    GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 3, 2013) – Michelin North America Inc. has started shipping the Pilot Sport A/S 3, the all-season derivation of the Pilot Super Sport ultra-high-performance radial line launched in 2011 and successor to the Pilot Sport All-Season Plus launched in 2008.

    Michelin previewed the tire for dealers and media earlier this year, touting the tire's "breakthrough levels of dry grip."

    Michelin is touting the Pilot Sport A/S 3 for a number of performance advantages, including: enhanced dry grip vs. competitors' performance summer tires; reduced wet and dry braking;

    and cold weather mobility for true all-season performance.

    Steve Calder, UHP category manager, said Michelin has taken the knowledge gained in developing the Pilot Super Sport summer tire "and paired it with our latest technologies to design a tire capable of providing an incredibly exhilarating drive while maintaining the performance characteristics needed for all seasons."

    The Pilot Sport A/S 3 tire is designed and engineered in the U.S. and manufactured at one Canadian plant and two in the U.S.

    The tire will be available in 88 sizes ranging from 175/65/R15 to 285/35/ZR20, in V-, Y-, Z- and W-speed ratings, and comes with a 45,000-mile limited treadwear warranty. The manufacturer's suggested retail price ranges from $115 to $437, depending on size.

    While the Pilot Sport A/S 3 is considered the successor to the Pilot Sport A/S Plus, there will continue to be a few A/S Plus offerings, Michelin said, including the Porsche OE fitments and the Zero Pressure dimensions, until replacements are developed.
