FULLERTON, Calif. (July 2, 2013) — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) is rolling out two additions to its Advan ultra-high-performance tire line: the Advan Sport V105 and Advan Neova AD08 R
The Advan V105, considered the "flagship" of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s UHP offerings, was developed at Germany's famous Nürburgring race complex using knowledge gleaned from the firm's racing programs and already OE on a number of Mercedes-Benz models, according to the tire maker.
Introduced in Europe earlier this year, the V105 is the successor to the eight-year-old V103 model that is factory-equipped on many performance cars, including those from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche and Bentley.
YTC is rolling out the V105 in 13 sizes ranging from 205/55R16 91V to 255/30ZR20 92Y but said it eventually will offer it in 55 sizes in 17- to 20-inch rim diameters.
The AD08 R will be available in 37 sizes, with 10 sizes initially and the rest available throughout this summer. The sizes will range from 15- to 19-inch rim diameters and will have fitments for a variety of sport coupes, intended for drivers in search of extreme levels of grip and precision handling.
The newly developed compound and targeted construction for the AD08 R was designed to improve performance in wet and dry conditions and lower lap times for driving enthusiasts.
Both tires are designed with specialized compounds featuring YRC's orange oil technology for enhanced traction and road surface adhesion, according to Andrew Briggs, director, marketing and product planning, for YTC.
The V105 carries a 240-AA-A UTQG rating, while the AD08 R is rated 180-AA-A. YTC did not disclose pricing information for either tire.
Yokohama has posted a highlight brochure on both tires on its website.
