ARLINGTON, Va. (June 27, 2013) — Overall freight volumes for trucking will grow 3.2 percent annually through 2018 and 1.1 percent after that between 2019 and 2024, according to the latest U.S. Freight Forecast from American Trucking Associations (ATA).
The forecast, a collaborative effort among the ATA, IHS Global Insight and Martin Labbe Associates, shows that trucking will strengthen its position over the next decade as the leading mode of freight transportation, ATA said.
Overall freight revenue will grow 63.6 percent to $1.3 trillion annually by 2024, according to the forecast. Trucking will see its share of overall freight revenue grow to 81 percent in 2024 from 80.7 percent in 2012, the group said.
