TAMPA, Fla. (June 27, 2013) — A Father's Day contest sponsored by RNR Custom Wheels and Tire Express left the winner with much more than just a fat gift card.
RNR joined forces with Bubba the Love Sponge and Cox Radio for the contest, in which the winning dad won a $1,000 gift card…and more.
Interested parties were asked to go online, fill out a form and tell the radio station why they thought their dad should win. The winning dad was Rich Holsinger of St. Petersburg, Fla., whose sons, Jake, Noah and Harrison Holsinger, described their dad as a great husband, an amazing father, a fixer, a builder, a community volunteer and coach—a guy who gives to people with no thought of reward, RNR said.
Their letter read: "He really shows us what a man is with everything he does." They also said their dad really kept the family together through the death of a fourth brother and also when two of the sons were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
RNR said the boys asked for new rims for their dad's gold 2005 Chevy Silverado.
"I didn't know they sent the letter. One day they just said, 'Dad, you need to cool your truck up.'
"I told them what I needed was new tires, and I guess they took the hint and ran with it," Mr Holsinger said. "Now, I'm the cool guy in town."
Larry Sutton, RNR founder and president, said that when he read the letter, he wanted to sweeten the deal for Mr. Holsinger.
"I want to meet this guy," Mr. Sutton added. "I want to be this guy!"
