BOWIE, Md. (June 26, 2013) — The Tire Industry Association's (TIA) Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) has issued a new environmental Best Management Practice to help tire generators manage the flow of tires removed from service.
The document, along with five other Best Management Practices for the tire retail industry, is available free for downloading from the TIA website.
The new Best Management Practice offers guidelines for tire generators to follow when they remove tires from vehicles or receive them from customers.
"The generator plays a crucial role to ensure that scrap tires are not properly disposed of in neighborhoods, waterways or abandoned piles," said Roy Littlefield, TIA executive vice president. "We encourage TIA members and everyone in the industry to follow this best practice."
Anyone in the industry who has a Best Management Practice topic they would like to see the EAC address should contact LaKisha Pindell at [email protected], TIA said.
