OWATONNA, Minn. (June 6, 2013) — Bosch Group has released the Actron U-Scan that transmits vehicle diagnostics directly to a vehicle owner's smartphone.
Users can plug directly into a vehicle's OBD II port and communicate with their vehicle via a free app on their iOS or Android device. Using Bluetooth wireless connectivity, U-Scan assists vehicle owners in diagnosing and resolving automotive issues, saving time and money, the company said.
The U-Scan is compatible with all 1996 and newer cars and light trucks and features: emissions info; QuickCheck to summarize vehicle emissions codes and definitions; AutoID to automatically identify most model year 2000 and newer vehicles; TrueLink to link to all 1996 and newer vehicles; Vehicle Activity Log to provide a history of vehicle tests and procedures; and MyGarage vehicle manager for access to vehicle data.
"The U-Scan and mobile app is the next generation in vehicle diagnostic wireless technology at a fantastic price point," said Jennifer Grabowski, U-Scan product manager of diagnostics. "Moreover, the app is fully upgradeable. Users can add available key features they have come to expect from Actron diagnostic tools."
Actron products are sold by most major automotive retailers, according to Bosch.
In celebration of Father's Day, Actron will be giving away 25 new U-Scan diagnostic tools leading up to the holiday. To qualify, consumers must "like" Actron Tools' Facebook page, post their favorite father-son or father-daughter photo and, via the promotions tab, sign up for the contest.
