MONROE, Mich. — Tenneco Inc.'s Monroe brand is aggressively expanding its Max-Lift line of gas-charged lift supports, nearly doubling the number of available SKUs from 288 to more than 500.
Tenneco said the Max-Lift lift supports enable automotive service professionals to "restore the like-new operation of trunk lids, hoods, hatches and more." The lift supports feature a nitro-carburized rod for durability, a plastic rod guide to reduce potential abrasion damage and a main seal to provide positive closure for each unit's high-pressure gas charge.
In addition, each support is engineered to provide smooth operation and long life, Tenneco said. Among the latest Max-Lift units available are kits for Lexus-model lift gates and Infiniti-model hoods.
"Many consumers are not aware that they can easily replace their vehicles' original lift supports with gas-charged units that will open and support hoods, hatches, glove boxes and even lift gates," said Bill Dennie, director of ride control channel management, North American aftermarket, Tenneco. "This is a growth opportunity for distributors and service providers. The key is for repair professionals to check trunk and lid operation during each service occasion and to let consumers know these components can be replaced in a matter of minutes for improved safety and convenience."
