CARY, N.C. (May 23, 2013) — Tire and automotive repair shop Atlantic Tire & Service was honored recently as the winner of the Cary Chamber of Commerce's 2013 Small Business of the Year award.
Cary-based Atlantic Tire owner Anthony Blackman accepted the award on behalf of the company May 9 at the chamber's annual Excellence Awards Banquet, held at the Embassy Suites in Cary. The dealership, which is marking its 15th anniversary, was recognized for its "excellence in creativity, innovation and drive for success—measured not only by numbers, but by customer relations," Atlantic Tire said.
The dealership's employees are both urged and required to understand the latest technologies in the automotive industry to make sure customers receive the best service possible, the firm said, and the company treats its employees with equal respect, On an employee's second anniversary with Atlantic Tire, he/she and a guest are treated to a trip to Aruba, Cancun or the Bahamas as a way to show appreciation for their efforts.
"This award is highly valued by Atlantic Tire & Service," Mr. Blackman said. "We strive to deliver the best customer service, stay connected with our community and respect those who work with us. We are honored to be named the Cary Chamber's Small Business of the Year."
Founded by Mr. Blackman in 1998, Atlantic Tire operates locations in Cary, Durham and Raleigh, N.C. Mr. Blackman has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Cary Chamber's 2006 and 2008 Citizen of the Year Award, while his company has won the Cary Chamber's Employer of the Year Award, the Community Service Award and the Cary Chamber's Business of the Year.
Atlantic Tire has been the recipient of several other local awards, including the industry's Blue Seal of Excellence Award (the first recipient of this award in Cary), the Morrisville Chamber's Business of the Year Award, Cary News' "Best Place for Automotive Repair" award and multiple Cary Magazine Maggy Awards for "Best Mechanic in Western Wake (County)."
