GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 20, 2013) — Michelin North America Inc.'s Oliver Rubber subsidiary has unveiled a precure retread for regional, spread axle and on/off road applications.
Michelin said the Regional A/P is an all-position precure retread designed for single axle, tandem axle, tanker, spread/multi-axle and conventional applications.
"The Regional A/P builds on the success of Oliver's 100 years of experience in manufacturing retread products by adding rounded shoulders to fight the lateral forces inherent to on/off road and spread axle applications," said Philip Boarts, product category manager, retread for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. "The retread provides excellent chip, cut and chunk resistance, while supplying excellent mileage."
The rounded shoulders help counter lateral forces common in spread axle conditions, the company said, noting the five-rib solid shoulder design and Oliver compounds offer long, even wear. The retread is available in four sizes.
The Regional A/P also features VDiplus, a visual tread depth indicator that, according to the tire maker, helps a fleet operation's budget-planning process as well as reduces lodging of foreign material while abating stone-drilling conditions and casing penetration issues.
