STOW, Ohio (May 20, 2013) — Dick Cepek Tires & Wheels is adding 12 sizes, ranging from 16 to 20 inches in rim diameter, to its redesigned Fun Country radial line in May.
The all-terrain tire line features a hybrid design with a three-ply sidewall, wide lateral and offset tread grooves, and a larger surface area to improve grip and responsive off-road traction. The tire also has stone ejector ribs and ultra-thin sipes to reduce stone retention and cracking. Notched shoulder edges, scalloped ribs and the enhanced buttress maximize off-road traction and prevent lug tearing, the company said.
Computer optimized pitch sequence in the tread design helps reduce pattern noise for a quieter ride and even wear, according to the company.
"The new Fun Country is unlike any Dick Cepek tire that has come before it," said Ken Warner, vice president of sales and marketing for Dick Cepek, a unit of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. "This tire is a unique combination of cutting-edge design elements and technology that give new meaning to the all-terrain category.
"We have dedicated attention to every aspect of the design process—footprint, tread, lugs, siping, shoulder, tire compounds and appearance—to make this one of the best tires Dick Cepek has ever made."
