COLLEYVILLE, Texas (May 10, 2013) — The Automotive Service Association (ASA) was a victim of theft earlier this year by an employee, who has since been terminated "with cause," the association said this week.
Two executives also stepped down in the wake of the association's discovering the theft. The ASA did not name the individuals.
The ASA did not elaborate on the nature or scale of the theft and declined to provide further details due to the pending police investigation. The association did, however, note that it was insured and recuperated a portion of its loss.
The association said "proper measures have been taken to prevent any further such activity."
The ASA also said that the theft did not involve its International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) or Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) events, which are handled by Hanley Wood Exhibitions and are separate from ASA's finances.
The ASA recently appointed Dan Risley as interim executive director after Ron Pyle stepped down as president and CEO. LINK:
"The issue has been addressed and (the) ASA is looking forward to the future. I expect great things from the association in 2013 as well as years to come," said ASA Chairman Darrell Amberson in a prepared statement.
