BOWIE, Md. (May 9, 2013) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has issued new Best Management Practices in five environmental areas important to tire dealers.
The new Best Management Practices are:
• To transition the tire industry away from lead wheel weights;
• For managing used oil;
• For contaminant release protection at automotive service enters;
• For automotive shop gluids; and
• For managing automotive batteries.
The documents are the product of several years' work by TIA's Environmental Advisory Council, the Bowie-based trade association said. Each of the Best Practices describes procedures that tire dealers should follow in handling, transporting, recycling and disposing of such items as used oil, batteries, degreasers and automotive fluids.
All five Best Management Practices are available for free download at TIA's website.
