The Red Dot Design Award, according to the institute, "is an internationally recognized quality label for excellent design." The Red Dot jury "comprises design experts of international repute, whose background allows them to consciously assess the special intercultural aspects of design," the organization's website says.
"By winning the Red Dot Design Award, one of the world's top three design honors, for a second year straight, Kumho Tires has established that it is a company the world recognizes for its eco-friendly technology and design excellence," Kumho said, quoting an unnamed official of its R&D Center. "We will continue our efforts for technology development and our investment in design to increase our corporate image as an eco-friendly company within the global market."
Last year, Kumho won the Red Dot award for its Ecsta LE Sport (KU39). In addition, the company said it won the iF Design Award—from the iF Industrie Forum Design e.V. on the grounds of the Messe Hannover in Germany—for three products: Ecsta LE Sport (KU39), Majesty Solus (KU50) and I'Zen (KW27). In 2012 the tire maker also received an American Good Design Award from San Diego-based American Design Awards and Graphicwise Inc., for its Ecsta 4X in the transportation category.
