AKRON (May 1, 2013) — Goodyear will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 9 for its new global headquarters, with a number of politicians and business representatives on hand to mark the occasion.
The event will take place beginning at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 9 at the new HQ, at 200 Innovation Way in Akron. Goodyear Chairman and CEO Richard J. Kramer will be joined by representatives from the State of Ohio including Ohio Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, officials from Summit County, local members of Congress and officials of Industrial Realty Group, which oversaw the project.
The Akron-based tire maker said the event is not open to the public.
Groundbreaking for the new headquarters was held April 18, 2011. It and the adjacent Akron Innovation Center are home to about 3,000 employees, according to Goodyear.
The event is planned to be held outdoors, with an alternative indoor location used in the event of inclement weather.
