OMSK, Russia (April 4, 2013) — A subsidiary of Omsk Carbon Group is planning to build a $130 million carbon black plant in Mogilev, Belarus, that will supply the material for passenger tire production.
The factory, operated by subsidiary IOOO Omsk Carbon Mogilev, is expected to open in 2015 with the capacity to produce 80,000 metric tons of carbon black annually, the firm said. By 2019, capacity should reach 150,000 tons a year.
Omsk Carbon Group said half the output will be used by Belarus tire maker OAO Belshina, 3 to 5 percent will go to smaller domestic customers, and the remainder will be exported to nearby countries.
The facility will employ 450, according to the company.
