LAS VEGAS (April 2, 2013) — Superior Tire & Service, the predominantly Goodyear dealership in Las Vegas formerly owned by the late California tire dealer Bruce Scher, has reopened under new management with two stores initially and plans to reopen up to 11 stores by the end of May.
"We are excited to open for business in Las Vegas and once again have the Goodyear name in the marketplace," said Shane Ely, Superior Tire & Service district manager, in a prepared statement.
"Goodyear customers old and new now have multiple locations in the valley to have their vehicles serviced and warranty work completed. We are committed to providing the best customer experience in the industry."
The new management of Superior Tire & Service purchased the assets of the business and expects to rehire most of its 81 employees, the company statement said. It will handle all Goodyear Nationwide Warranty service and honor service contracts from the previous ownership.
The announcement does not identify who besides Mr. Ely is involved in the bid to reopen Superior Tire, which closed Dec. 17 last year following the unexpected death or Mr. Scher, who had operated the Las Vegas since 2003.
That year Mr. Scher took over nine Superior Tire retail stores from Goodyear, which had assumed operation of the then-16-store Superior Tire chain earlier that year after Mountain View Tire & Service of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., opted out of a management contract deal to operate the stores in partnership with Goodyear.
