GURGAON, India (March 21, 2013) — Mahindra of India launched its e2o electric car on March 18 using tires specially designed for the vehicle by Apollo Tyres Ltd.
The car will be shod with Apollo Amazer 3G tires in size 155/70 R13.
The tire maker claims an intensive R&D effort—taking just six months—went into designing the tires to achieve low rolling resistance and better mileage between charges with less energy drawn from the vehicle's batteries.
Satish Sharma, chief of India operations for Apollo Tyres, said the company "has always believed in a collaborative approach towards R&D.… Our product laboratories benefit from some of the best minds in the global automotive and tire industries, through our tie-ups with premium research and technology institutions globally.
"For us, innovation means little unless it can create tangible value for the customer, ensure a safe ride and deliver on the promise of sustainability."
