TEMPE, Ariz. (March 18, 2013) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), the Rubber Pavement Association and the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society are among co-sponsors of the 6th Conference on the Use of Rubber-Modified Asphalt, to be held Oct. 15-17 at the Fiesta Resort in Tempe.
The Asphalt Institute, the National Asphalt Pavement Association, the National Center for Asphalt Technology and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) also are sponsoring the meeting, according to an RMA press release.
The goal of the conference is to educate state policymakers and industry stakeholders on new research and applications in rubber-modified asphalt, the RMA said.
Topics to be discussed at the meeting include an analysis of performance grading, the use of rubber-modified asphalt as a thermal blanket, specifications for rubber-modified asphalt, and case studies from various state transportation departments on the use of the material, the association said.
The FHWA will work with other conference organizers to bring officials from selected states to the meeting, said RMA Vice President Michael Blumenthal. Among those to be invited are state transportation department officials, as well as personnel responsible for scrap tire management in their states, he said.
