WASHINGTON (March 13, 2013) — Four tire manufacturers won a total of three Excellence Awards and 11 Improvement Awards in the Rubber Manufacturers Association's (RMA) annual Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) awards.
Winning Excellence Awards were Bridgestone Americans Manufacturing Group in Graniteville, S.C.; Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions in Griffin, Ga.; and Pirelli Tire L.L.C. in Rome, Ga., the RMA said.
Improvement Awards went to Bridgestone Americas Manufacturing Group in LaVergne, Tenn., Des Moines, Iowa, Morrison, Tenn., and Wilson, N.C.; Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions in Abilene, Tex.; Michelin North America Inc. at two locations in Greenville, S.C., and also in Midland City, Ala., and Lexington, S.C.; and Goodyear in Danville, Va., and Akron.
The RMA has given out the SHIP Awards since 1981 to honor member companies that achieve significant enhancements in worker health and safety. Forty-one RMA member facilities supplied health and safety data to the RMA for this year's awards.
