WOODSTOCK, N.Y. (March 8, 2013) — Innovative Products of America Inc. (IPA) has debuted three tire tools to help fleets maintain proper tire maintenance and reduce fuel costs.
The Tire Comparator (Type I) helps fleets ensure the greatest fuel economy and tire life possible to reduce costs, the company said. Minute discrepancies in tire pairing can have profound effects, as even a ¼-inch variance in tire size will cause the larger tire to support a far greater load, according to the company. Discrepancies can accelerate tread wear, amplify heating on the larger tire and increase rolling resistance.
The Tire Comparator (Type I) allows users to compare tire diameter on single and dual-mated wheel applications for proper pairing. The patent-pending tool can be adjusted to work on tires up to 48 inches in diameter and reach the hardest-to-reach wheel wells, including the inside tire in dual wheel arrangements, the company said. The comparator is 48 inches in overall length and features standard and metric measurement increments for mounted and non-mounted tire matching/pairing.
The Tire Comparator (Type II) caliper is used for comparing tire diameter on dual-mated tires. The sliding tolerance gauge can be held against the tire and slid across the treads for a quick pass/fail result, according to IPA.
Special tread wear adapter gauges are available for any rim size, making Tire Comparator compatible with all dual-mated tires, the company said.
The Mobile Tire Pressure Equalizer (#9060) provides a method to accurately read and inflate tire pressure on multiple tires at the same time. The equalizer is designed to quickly inflate or deflate up to five tires at a time and is equipped with two integrated high-capacity air regulators and two high-resolution, glycerin-filled pressure gauges for consistent and precise tire pressure readings, the company said.
The Mobile Tire Pressure Equalizer is mounted on a welded steel cart with pneumatic tires, IPA said, and features wheel-specific, color-coded hoses with corresponding panel indicators and hose hangers.
