'TireVigil' picks up a top product award

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (Feb. 20, 2013) — TireVigil, a recently introduced tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) product for the trucking industry, has been named one of Heavy Duty Trucking magazine's "HDT '13 Top 20 Product" award winners.

TireStamp Inc., which introduced TireVigil last year, will be presented the HDT award March 13 at the annual meeting of the American Trucking Association's Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC). Top products also are spotlighted in HDT's February issue.

HDT's Top 20 selections were judged on their innovation, ability to address top industry issues, and potential to improve a trucking fleet's bottom line through maintenance savings, improvements in safety or efficiency, etc.

Judges—five veteran fleet maintenance professionals who are members of TMC—evaluated new products from hundreds of products and services introduced in the pages of HDT magazine and on Truckinginfo.com between December 2011 and November 2012, according to TireStamp.

TireVigil TPMS alerts fleet personnel to developing tire problems before tires are ruined or vehicles are stranded on the side of the road, ticketed, or put out of service at roadside inspections, according to TireStamp. In addition to issuing alerts for underinflation, overinflation, overheating and differences in dual tire pressure, TireVigil's software issues reminders to recheck wheel nut torque after a tire change and for preventive maintenance inspections, the company said.

TireVigil alerts and reports can be sent to anyone selected by a fleet, including a tire dealer/service provider with an iPhone, Blackberry, Smartphone, tablet, or other Internet-connected device. Besides providing remote tire diagnostics, TireVigil TPMS also can provide fleets with the location of their vehicles and visibility on vehicle speed, idling and ignition on/off status, track vehicle mileage in each state, as well as provide a record of the mileage each tire runs underinflated or overheated, Rochester Hills, Mich.-based TireStamp said.
