CORONA, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2013) — Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has renewed its agreement with Team Lucas through 2014 with a partnership package in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).
As part of the deal, the Stow, Ohio-based tire company will continue to have a highly visible presence at the series tracks and on television broadcasts on CBS and CBS Sports Network, SPEED channel and MAVTV American Real. In addition, Mickey Thompson will run a hospitality program.
"We started with Team Lucas last year and it has a lot of great venues, a tremendous television package and what we're looking for in the demographic," said Ken Warner, vice president of sales and marketing, Mickey Thompson. "We work hard to send our service trailer to the events and service these racers. We have a good group using our tires."
The company will be sponsoring Pro 2 Unlimited Class driver Jeff Geiser, along with Eric Barron, Curt LeDuc and Mike Porter.
In addition, the company announced beginning this year it has entered into a long-term sponsorship agreement with Brian Deegan, a four-time LOORRS Short Course champion, two-time Pro 2 Unlimited Class champion and two-time Pro Lite Unlimited Class champion. Through that relationship, Mickey Thompson will act as Mr. Deegan's official car and off-road tire sponsor and will provide support, including sponsorship of his LOORRS and Global RallyCross Championship presence.
Mr. Deegan earned the Pro 2 Unlimited Rookie of the Year and LOORRS Driver of the Year awards in 2011. Beginning this season, he will compete in the Pro 2 Unlimited Class using Mickey Thompson MTZ Radial and ATZ Radial tires.
According to Mickey Thompson, Mr. Deegan will serve as a technical consultant in the real-world testing, evaluation and development of Mickey Thompson's tire products to assist in continued R&D of its off-road, high-performance and ultra-high-performance offerings. He also will serve as an official spokesperson of the brand.
Outside of LOORRS competition, Mr. Deegan is the most decorated competitor in the history of Freestyle Motocross, having earned 15 X Games medals, including a gold metal in RallyCross at X Games 17.
"Brian ahs been a world class competitor since he started racing," Mr. Warner said. "From short course, to motocross, freestyle motocross and rally car racing, including the X Games, Brian is a champion. Supporting racers and champions is the heart of our company, which makes this relationship with Brian that much more exciting."
