WASHINGTON (Feb. 7, 2013) — Roy Littlefield, executive vice president of the Tire Industry Association (TIA), was elected secretary of the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC) at its annual meeting Feb. 5.
With this election, Mr. Littlefield will rise automatically through the ranks of SBLC executives, becoming treasurer in 2014, chair-elect in 2015 and chair in 2016.
Paul Stalknecht, president and CEO of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, became SBLC chair at the annual meeting, succeeding outgoing Chair Gerard Murphy, president of the Washington Area New Auto Dealers Association.
Georgia Foley, executive director of the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association, is the new SBLC chair-elect. Ralph Nappi, president of NPES-the Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, is the council's new treasurer.
Mr. Littlefield told Tire Business he has been involved in the council since its founding in 1977, when he worked for the former National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association. He has been particularly active over the past nine years, he said.
"This is a very important group, because it speaks for small business as a whole," Mr. Littlefield said. "It's clearly an honor for TIA to be in the SBLC leadership."
The SBLC is a coalition of more than 50 trade and professional associations representing the interests of small business in diverse economic sectors, including manufacturing, retailing, distribution, professional and technical services, construction, transportation and agriculture, according to an SBLC press release.
