BLACKWOOD, N.J. (Feb. 4, 2013) — Reliable Tire Co. acquired a distribution center in Macon, Ga., as of Feb. 1, from K&M Tire Inc.
Blackwood-based Reliable Tire said the decision to expand its presence in the region was to support the many dealers who have been loyal customers over the years. The company noted that Macon fits within the strategy to grow its expanded service model in the Georgia market.
All K&M Tire employees in Macon have been retained, according to Reliable.
Reliable CEO Richie Betz said there has been a tremendous change in the delivery and service model in the tire business, and companies like Reliable need to focus on markets in which it can best implement and use the multiple-times-a-day delivery model.
In an effort to focus its attention on its core North East and East coast regions, Reliable sold two distribution centers in Texas last September to K&M Tire, which has its headquarters in Delphos, Ohio.
Reliable currently operates warehouses in the following areas: Blackwood; East Syracuse, N.Y.; Albany, N.Y.; East Hartford, Conn.; Atlanta; and Macon.
