NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. (Jan. 30, 2013) — Goodyear took the wraps off several new commercial truck tires at its 2013 Goodyear Dealer Conference in National Harbor Jan. 27-29.
The Akron-based tire maker unveiled the Goodyear G661 HSA tire, designed for use in pickup-and-delivery vehicles and other applications requiring a scrub-resistant tread. The G661 HSA's multi-compound tread construction helps extend tread life when used in local applications that require frequent turning, backing and braking, Goodyear said.
Four full-sized, super-tensile steel belts help reinforce the tread for enhanced toughness, the company said. Penetration protectors help resist cuts and punctures, and sidewall-protector ribs enhanced by a scrub-resistant compound protect against sidewall abrasions caused by curbing, according to the company.
The G661 HSA's TredLock technology features interlocking microgrooves that stabilize the tread for long tread life, and the 22/32-inch tread depth delivers long original tread life, Goodyear said.
Goodyear is rolling out the G661 HSA over the next few months, with all sizes available by late June.
Among the other commercial tires exhibited at the dealer conference was the G572 LHD Fuel Max, a fuel-efficient, long-haul drive tire with a deep, 30/32-inch tread depth guaranteeing long tread life, Goodyear said.
