FORT MILL, SC. (Jan. 29, 2013) — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. has agreed to co-sponsor Hot Rod magazine's Power Tour for 2013, a traveling automotive performance show.
The tour—officially designated "Chevrolet Performance Presents The Hot Rod Power Tour Driven by Continental Tire"—starts its 19th consecutive year on June 1 in Arlington, Texas, and runs eight straight days in eight cities, winding up on June 7 in Charlotte, N.C., Conti said.
More than 75,000 people are expected to attend the tour, which includes more than 4,700 performance machines. Each stop will feature top aftermarket manufacturers, along with thousands of hot rods, muscle cars, street machines, custom creations and trucks that go on display for the day.
"The Hot Rod Power Tour is on the bucket list of all performance car enthusiasts," said Gregg Vandermark, Continental Tire event manager. "Continental is very happy that our brand is now associated with the fun and adventure that this legendary road trip represents."
Hot Rod Publisher Jeff Dahlin said the tour's "partnering with Continental Tire represents a significant step forward for our signature event….
"The thousands who participate in the Power Tour and the thousands more who come to see us at one of the stops are eager to talk shop with our sponsors and vendors, because they know that their products are the best available. Continental Tire has a long history of building performance tires with industry-leading technology; so this is a perfect fit."
The 2013 tour also will visit Texarkana and Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis and Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Birmingham, Ala.
