SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Jan. 21, 2013) — Automotive aftermarket parts retailer O'Reilly Automotive Inc. has opened its 4,000th store.
The company christened its latest location, in Tampa, Fla., by hosting on Jan. 19 what it called "a daylong celebration of philanthropy, community and customers."
Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony overseen by the Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Springfield-based O'Reilly made a charitable donation to the Ronald McDonald House and the company's senior management hosted a customer appreciation cookout for lunch. Other activities included "a Dollar Stretching Deals" sales event and display of O'Reilly's motorsports truck and trailer, which includes a racing simulator.
"It is a testament to our team members' commitment to our customer service culture that, 10 years ago, we operated less than 1,000 stores, and today we are opening our 4,000th store," said Greg Henslee, president and CEO. "This milestone is a reflection of our growth strategy, and we are excited to continue this growth in Florida with the opening of a distribution center in Lakeland, in early 2014, which will support our existing and future Florida stores."
O'Reilly is one of the nation's largest specialty retailers of automotive aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment and accessories. The company, founded in 1957 by the O'Reilly family, operates stores in 42 states.
