DETROITMonopoly might be the greatest board game of all time and has the distinction of being one of the only games that allows you to have fun while systematically causing you to hate the friends and loved ones with whom you're playing the game.
However, the folks over at Hasbro Inc. have decided that it might be time to inject some newness into the old game.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting the iconic game will be losing one of its original game tokens: the iron, Scottie dog, wheelbarrow, shoe, top hat, thimble, battleshipor the ever-popular race car.
The company is letting fans vote on the Monopoly Facebook page, and the token that gets the lowest total will be retired.
The campaign, titled Save Your Token, also will let fans vote for a replacement: a toy robot, a helicopter, a cat, a guitar or a diamond ring.
So it's time for autophiles to band together for a good cause. The race car must be saved. Go forth and do your duty.
Voting ends on Feb. 5.
