LAS VEGAS (Jan. 2, 2013) — A film of the 2012 General Tire Mint 400 will make its television premier at 2 p.m. EDT on Jan. 5 on SPEED TV.
More than 900 racers from 14 countries—including 300 professional off-road race teams—came together in Las Vegas March 21-March 24, competing in 20 classes of vehicles while battling 400 miles of the Nevada desert.
The race was captured in HD resolution by Mad Media, featuring some of the most remote and challenging spots on the racecourse, as well as from a TwinStar helicopter that had a custom Cineflex camera system that is designed for grabbing steady shots, according to race sponsor Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.
The first three airings of the film are:
- 2 p.m. Eastern/11 a.m. Pacific, Saturday, Jan. 5;
- 12 p.m. Eastern/9 a.m. Pacific, Thursday, Jan. 10; and
- 11 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Pacific, Saturday, Jan. 26.
SPEED TV will be re-airing the show multiple times throughout the year, Conti said.
The General Tire Mint 400 started in 1967, and is part of the Best in The Desert Off-Road Championship.
