WAYNE, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2012) — Hankook Tire America Corp. has inked an agreement to supply the new Lincoln MKZ midsize sedan with the tire maker's ultra-high performance Ventus V12 evo tire.
The Wayne-based tire marketer will supply the tires to Ford Motor Co. in sizes 245/45ZR18 and 245/40ZR19. The 18-inch size will be used for vehicles built for both the U.S. and export markets, Hankook said, while the 19-inch size will be used on vehicles built for export markets.
The company said the fitments provide further penetration into the Lincoln brand for Hankook, which already supplies 19-inch and 20-inch OE tire fitments for the Lincoln MKT three-row crossover.
“Hankook is truly excited to supply one of the most anticipated cars of 2013, the new Lincoln MKZ. The partnership forged with Ford and Lincoln is now into its third decade and growing. We're thrilled and humbled to be selected to supply the MKZ,” said Byungil Woo, vice president, Hankook Tire Global OE Division. “It's a testament to the quality of products in Hankook's line up. We received the award after satisfying all criteria for testing—the results being another perfect fit for the Lincoln MKZ.”
This OE tire agreement marks a milestone for Hankook, according to the company, as it is Hankook's first time supplying 18- and 19-inch UHP tires to a luxury North American sedan.
“Hankook's OE business is growing based on the recognition of our tire's quality and brand value,” said Soo Il Lee, president of Hankook Tire America. “This agreement is a great addition to Hankook's OE portfolio and we look forward to working in partnership in the future with the world's leading car manufacturers.”
The tire maker recently was recognized with a World Excellence Award as an outstanding global supplier by Ford—marking the third time since 2005 that Hankook has received the award from the auto maker.
