GAINESVILLE, Va. (Sept. 11, 2012) — The Washington Business Journal has named Curry's Auto Service one of the 50 fastest growing companies in the Washington, D.C., area.
It's the second consecutive year the Gainesville-based dealership has appeared on the list.
According to Curry's, criteria for the honor include a company's having at least three years of consecutive revenue growth.
Curry's said it recorded revenues of $17.1 million in 2011 — an increase of $7.1 million, or 41 percent, over its $10 million in revenue in 2009. That in turn was five times the $2 million in revenue in 2009.
The dealership services 4,500 customers through its nine locations in Alexandria, Arlington, Chantilly, Dulles, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Gainesville and Great Falls/Reston, Va., and Gaithersburg, Md. .
Matt Curry, founder and CEO, said the company will continue its expansion with the opening of an outlet in Leesburg, Va., by year-end. Last year Curry's opened three new stores.
In August Curry's was named to Inc. magazine's 5000 list of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S. for its third consecutive year. This year's company ranking hit No. 2,191 — 1,781 points up from 2011's position at No. 3,972.
Companies making Inc.'s list are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2008 to 2011 and have to be U.S. based, privately held, for profit, and independent as of Dec. 31, 2011, the magazine said.
Curry's, founded in 1997, offers full service auto repair, maintenance and tire services.
