WASHINGTON (Sept. 6, 2012)—Seasonally adjusted initial claims for unemployment insurance fell 12,000 to 365,000 for the week ended Sept. 1, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The four-week average of new unemployment claims for the same week inched up 250 to 371,250, Labor said. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ended Aug. 25 stayed unchanged at 2.6 percent, while the total number of insured decreased 6,000 to 3,322,000.
