FINDLAY, Ohio (June 25, 2012) — Semi-trailer maker Wabash National Corp. has approved Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Roadmaster RM871 tires as an optional OE fitment on all of its dry freight and refrigerated van models as well as on its Transcraft- and Benson-brand platform trailers.
Sean Kenney, director of sales for Wabash National, called Roadmaster tires “another beneficial tire option for our customers,” whose design and compounding provide low rolling resistance and improved fuel efficiency.
Roadmaster tires previously were specified by some of Wabash National's largest customers, according to Bill Hoban, national truck tire sales manager for the Roadmaster brand.
“Now, all of Wabash National's customers have the option to pick SmartWay-verified Roadmaster RM871(EM) tires when specifying the components they want on their new semi trailers,” Mr. Hoban said.
Cooper converted its medium truck tire line to the Roadmaster name several years ago. Roadmaster tires are produced primarily at the firm's plant in Rongcheng City, China.
