AKRON (Feb. 9, 2012) — If you're still cruising for the best, most thoughtful Valentine's Day gift for your significant other, look no further than engine additives. Engine additives?
In this week's TBlog, Tire Business reporter Kathy McCarron points out that “chivalry—and romance—is apparently dead” in the automotive aftermarket.
How so? She quotes from a press release from Marc Blackman, CEO for Gold Eagle Co., a Chicago-based maker of aftermarket engine fluids and additives: “When it comes to Valentine's Day, we tend to think of buying gifts for our significant others, but for many, their second or even first love is their car. So forget a bottle of wine or perfume,” he continued, digging the hole a little deeper, “and instead, spoil your car with a bottle of fuel stabilizer or antifreeze.”
Sorry, dear, I decided to forget about the Riesling and roses and give you a can of Gunk.
Oh yeah, that will go over really well with one's partner, especially if he or she is expecting something a little more, uh, romantic.
