DAYTONA, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2012) — Automotive Lift Institute Inc. (ALI) hopes to bring its lift safety and inspection message to a broader audience this year by supporting and participating in the Petty's Garage Performance Tour, a year-long tour of 21 car events across the U.S. by a mobile version of Petty's Garage L.L.C.
Petty's Garage is a high-performance speed shop and race car restoration business founded in 2008 by legendary NASCAR racer Richard Petty in Level Cross, N.C.
“Partnering with Petty's Garage on the Performance Tour makes sense because the Automotive Lift Institute's safety and inspection message is complemented by the rich history and tremendous brand recognition Petty's Garage brings to the table,” said ALI President R.W. O'Gorman.
The partnership is an extension of work that began in 2005 with Mr. Petty's and his son Kyle's production of the “Lifting It Right” DVD on automotive lift operator safety training.
The tour will feature vehicles produced over the past few years at Petty's Garage and an exhibit with interactive videos. Key staff members will be on site at each event to answer questions and talk shop, Petty's Garage said.
“The Performance Tour will further the exposure of important automotive lift safety issues; such as compliance with national safety standards and the need to inspect your automotive lifts on a regular basis,” Mr. O'Gorman said.
The tour kicked off last weekend at the Daytona 24, the 24-hour Grand American Racing Rolex series endurance race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, and ends Oct. 30-Nov. 2 at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.
