BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (Jan. 27, 2012) — Over the course of the last year, Bridgestone Retail Operations L.L.C. raised more than $1.1 million for the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) through its Round Up Program, an in-store fundraising campaign.
The Round Up Program, active at Bridgestone company-owned stores nationwide — including Firestone Complete Auto Care, ExpertTire, Tires Plus and Wheel Works — asked customers to make a charitable donation to the MOWAA by “rounding up” their invoices to the nearest dollar. Recently, Bridgestone presented a check for $873,323 to MOWAA.
Earlier in 2011, Bridgestone also completed a two-month, in-store campaign benefiting the PCF, a non-profit organization working towards finding a cure for pediatric cancer. The company's stores raised $227,954 to help fun the organization's research initiative called The Sunshine Project.
“We are proud to say that we helped raise more than $1 million in 2011 to deserving charities nationwide,” said Matt Hoskins, Bridgestone Retail president. “Along with the continuing support of our generous customers and devoted teammates throughout 2012, we remain steadfast in our commitment to give back to the communities that we call home.”
