AKRON (Jan. 27, 2012) — Goodyear has hired Christopher Curran, director of communications and issues management for ServiceMaster Co., to become vice president of public relations and communications for the North American Tire business.
Mr. Curran, 45, will join Goodyear Feb. 6. He fills a post that's been vacant since March 2011 when Goodyear promoted Ed Markey to vice president of corporate communications.
“Outstanding communications is critical to our business as we continue to build for success over the long term,” said Steve McClellan, president of North American Tire. “We have a strong team in place, and look forward to Chris's leadership to further increase its value as we execute our strategy.”
While at ServiceMaster, Mr. Curran developed and implemented communications strategies for the company and its eight brands, including TruGreen and Terminix. He developed ServiceMaster's social media strategy and established an employee advocacy website.
Prior to joining ServiceMaster in 2010, Mr. Curran was in charge of global public relations and investor relations for Esselte Corp. and senior manager of corporate communications at Cadbury Schweppes from 2000-2003.
