QUINCY, Ill. (Jan. 18, 2012) — Heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. has signed a three-year OTR tire-supply contract valued at at least $100 million with Titan Tire Corp., according to the Quincy-based tire maker.
Titan Tire, a subsidiary of Titan International Inc., did not elaborate on the terms of the contract or on the types or sizes of tires it will be supplying, other than to say it does not include large mining tires.
Titan did say the contract represents a “significant increase” in the amount of business it has had with Caterpillar in the recent past.
Titan Chairman and CEO Maurice Taylor recently projected Titan's sales in 2012 will jump 21 to 36 percent over 2011 to $1.7 billion to $1.9 billion based on strong demand from the company's key markets. It's not clear whethere Mr. Taylor included an estimate for this business in his forecast.
