AKRON (Nov. 14, 2011) — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is consolidating the tire registration process at its 2,500-plus Tire & Lube Express locations to that of CIMS Inc.'s all-brand tire registration forms, according to CIMS.
Wal-Mart previously used a variety of individual manufacturer's forms but recognized a need to consolidate into the inclusive CIMS all-brand form, Akron-based CIMS said, adding that the deal does not apply to Wal-Mart's Sam's Club stores.
“Our goal at CIMS is to help Wal-Mart continue reinforcing their commitment to consumer safety,” said CIMS President Susan Kruder, “especially as it relates to tire registration, and ensuring them that their customers will be directly notified if a tire manufacturer or private brand owner initiates a safety related tire recall.”
Wal-Mart did not comment on its choice of CIMS as an approved vendor. Financial terms were not disclosed.
CIMS—Computerized Information and Management Services—is in its 40 th year of business as an independent company providing tire registration process services to tire manufacturers, private brand owners, tire dealers, tire importers, mass merchandisers and automobile dealerships.
