Coker Group, parent company of Coker Tire Co., has acquired the assets of Wheel Vintiques Inc., a manufacturer of custom wheels for collector cars, hot rods and classic trucks based in Fresno, Calif.
The company, which was founded in 1986 by Mike and Sherrie Stallings, began as a personal wheel restoration hobby that eventually grew to the point where Mr. Stallings could no longer handle the work load from his home garage shop. The company has since focused on adding quality products and expanding its customer base, and it has outgrown several facilities in recent years.
Under Coker's ownership, Mr. Stallings will help direct the company as a manufacturing and process consultant. Coker Tire will not be distributing Wheel Vintiques products and will continue to supply only its current wheel brand offerings, the company said.
“We are committed to continuing Wheel Vintiques' great traditions, while striving to improve administrative, customer service and manufacturing aspects of the business,” said Wade Kawasaki, executive vice president of the Coker Group. “Wheel Vintiques will continue operations similar to a stand-alone business and will distribute its product through its current distribution system.”
Wheel Vintiques offers hundreds of styles of wheels and accessories, including “the most complete line of steel and wire wheels in the automotive aftermarket today,” Coker said.
