TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (April 27, 2011) — Ukranian state-owned oil and gas holding company Uzbekneftegaz and the China National Petroleum Corp. tentatively have agreed to establish a butadiene rubber plant in Uzbekistan.
A memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties calls for the construction of a butadiene extraction unit in Uzbekistan, followed by a 60,000 metric tons per year facility to produce butadiene rubber, which is an industrial chemical used as a monomer in the production of synthetic rubber.
The agreement was one of four made with Chinese partners by Uzbekneftegaz.
