OXFORD, Miss (Feb. 22, 2011) — The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi has set Sept. 26 as the scheduled date for a federal trial to begin against Sanjeet Singh “Sonny” Veen, a Rockville, Md., tire distributor the government has accused of 70 accounts of fraud against a tire dealer customer.
According to the indictment issued last October, Mr. Veen and his company, Orteck Global Supply & Distribution Co., billed Dunlap & Kyle Co. Inc. for more than $7 million in tire shipments that were never sent.
Between March 2009 and February 2010, Mr. Veen allegedly accepted money from Dunlap & Kyle and its affiliated companies, blaming shipments that never arrived on the mistakes of foreign manufacturers.
The case will be heard in Oxford before Senior Judge Glen H. Davidson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Mr. Veen remains free on $1 million bond.
Dunlap & Kyle operates 13 wholesale centers and 52 retail stores under the Gateway Tire name.
