RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2010) — GITI Tire (USA) Ltd. has achieved SmartWay verification for its GT Radial GSL213 steer tire and GT669+ drive tire, an accomplishment the firm called an “important milestone.”
SmartWay verification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) means these products reduce emissions and provide an estimated fuel savings of at least 3 percent against “market-leading” on-highway commercial truck tires, GITI said.
The GSL213 long-haul steer tire features advanced technology and a tread pattern with decoupling grooves and braking force ribs designed to resist irregular wear and extend mileage, GITI said. The tire is available in four sizes: 11R22.5 (14 and 16 ply); 11R24.5; 295/75R22.5; and 285/75R24.5 (all 14 ply).
The GT669+ drive tire features an advanced compound for long tread life and a deep aggressive pattern for consistent traction and optimum braking as well as a wide tread footprint for stability and longer life and a robust casing for retreadability. It is available in three sizes: 11R22.5 (14 and 16 ply); 11R24.5 (14 and 16 ply); and 295/75R22.5 (14 ply).
Tom McNamara, vice president of sales for GITI Tire (USA), said SmartWay verification is “confirmation on the technology of our products” and shows the company is committed to the environment.
