ROANOKE, Va. (Nov. 15, 2010) — Advance Auto Parts Inc. has come back for the second season of a multi-year relationship as the title sponsor of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam monster truck series.
In addition to becoming the title sponsor for the series in 2009, Advance Auto became the primary sponsor for the new monster truck, Grinder, driven by Lupe Soza, the 2004 Monster Jam World Finals freestyle champion, the company said. In Grinder's inaugural season, the team finished in the top three in nine Monster Jam events.
During the upcoming season, a second Grinder truck will be introduced, driven by John Seasock, who has been involved in monster truck driving since 1990 and is a two-time Monster Jam World Finals racing champion. Mr. Seasock was introduced as the newest member of the Advance race team Nov. 13 at the Minneapolis Metrodome.
Advance Auto and Monster Jam have a long-standing relationship dating back to 1997. The automotive parts and accessories retailer/distributor began its national partnership with Monster Jam in 2004, when it became the official auto parts retailer of all Monster Jam events in the U.S., a designation it held until last year's transition to the title sponsorship.
In addition to its sponsorship, Advance Auto said it will have Hot Wheels Monster Jam 1:64 scale die-cast monster truck toys available at most of its store locations. Beginning in mid-December, a Grinder Hot Wheels truck toy will become available.
