FINDLAY, Ohio (Nov. 8, 2010) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Roadmaster RM180 truck tire has become the company's first commercial tire to earn SmartWay verification.
The steer tire, designed for long-haul applications, was recently added to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership's list of verified low-rolling resistance tires. Launched in 2004, the program identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions.
“We are pleased to have our first premium product named to the EPA's SmartWay Program for low-rolling resistance,” said Bill Hoban, Cooper's national truck tire sales manager. “This achievement demonstrates Cooper's ongoing commitment to producing high-tech truck tires that are more fuel efficient, thus helping to protect the environment.”
The Roadmaster RM180—which was launched January 2009—features a tread pattern with a decoupling groove to provide even wear along with a cool-running base compound and four-belt construction for long tread mileage, durability and retreadability.
