LAS VEGAS (Nov. 2, 2010) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is unveiling four Cooper-brand premium products at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.
Cooper is displaying the first of four new products—the Discoverer A/T3—which will be available in April 2011. It is the latest addition to Cooper's SUV and light truck tire lines and will replace the Discoverer ATR.
Cooper Tire's booth, No. 43009, is in the South Hall.
“In our highly competitive and fast-paced industry, we believe a genuine competitive edge can be obtained from the commitment Cooper has to providing our customers with a consistent supply of innovative new products,” said Steve Sawyer, Cooper Tire's director of brand and product management. “The launch of four new premium products in one year is an unprecedented move for Cooper, and we are excited about not only the products but the market opportunities that they will provide our customers.”
The A/T3 uses a combination of technology, compounding and design to produce a tire that provides all-terrain performance, Findlay, Ohio-based Cooper said. Its silica tread compound increases treadwear, improves wet traction and helps resist cutting and chipping, the tire maker claims.
The A/T3 will be available in 30 SUV sizes and 32 light truck sizes ranging from 15- to 20-inch rim diameters.
Also on display at the SEMA Show is the new Discoverer S/TMAXX, which will replace the Discoverer S/T-C and selected sizes of the Discoverer S/T.
The S/TMAXX will feature Cooper's three-ply “Armor-Tek3” carcass construction, a new proprietary cut and chip-resistant tread compound.
The S/T MAXX also is designed to be a commercial grade traction tire that will perform in the toughest terrains, Cooper said. Launching in February 2011, it will be available in eight sizes ranging from 16- to 18 inch rim diameters.
Also debuting at the show is the Cooper Zeon RS3-A, which replaces the Cooper Zeon Sport A/S.
The RS3-A is the latest ultra-high-performance tire with all-season capability. The tire has an advanced technology mold profile that provides a square tread footprint that allows for more tread-to-road contact, Cooper said.
The RS3-A will be initially offered in 31 sizes and will launch in April 2011. Additional sizes are scheduled for later in the year.
Cooper also is displaying the Zeon RS3-S, which replaces the Cooper Zeon 2XS.
The RS3-S is the latest UHP summer tire within the Cooper performance family that builds on the technology and performance of the Roush RS3 tire, according to the tire maker.
The RS3-S offers a low-profile, high-performance rating which combines dry road traction, handling and cornering ability. Its silica tread compound is designed to provide “superior wet driving performance,” Cooper said. The RS3-S will be available in 21 sizes and will launch April 2011.
