FORT MYERS, Fla. — Automotive Video Inc. (AVI), a provider of training products for auto repair technicians and repair shop owners, is building a website called AVI On Demand, which will offer more than 100 hours of streaming videos with auto service training.
The new training site, aviondemand.com, is scheduled to launch Sept. 15 and will focus on teaching automotive technicians in diagnostics, diesel systems, transmissions, scan tools and other repair-related topics. Featured classes will start at $19.95 and go up from there, AVI said.
AVI On Demand will offer AVI's training library optimized and digitized for online streaming and give technicians and shop owners instant access to information. The site also will be equipped with quizzes and interactive content to help technicians evaluate their knowledge and pinpoint areas where they may need more study.
“One of the number one issues we hear is that shop owners can't get their techs to watch the videos,” Katie Hallnan, AVI training coordinator, told Service Zone. “With AVI On Demand, they will be able to create accountability with their techs as well as monitor their progress via the tracking and reporting systems.”
Ms. Hallnan noted that techs will be tested on their general knowledge before the program, then they must pass a comprehensive test at the end to earn their certification of completion for that program. Shop owners can build a curriculum around the website's programs and view their techs' quiz results.
Founded in 1994, Fort Myers-based AVI produces automotive educational training videos, web-based articles written by instructors, and it provides practice exams and training courses for A1 through A8 and L1 exams for ASE certification.
