JUNO BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 19, 2010) — TBC Retail Group's tire and automotive service centers Tire Kingdom, National Tire and Battery (NTB), and Merchant's Tire and Auto Centers will participate in the annual Brake Safety Awareness Week, which begins Saturday, Aug. 21.
Sponsored by the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP), Brake Safety Awareness Week runs through Aug. 29.
“As a MAP member, we are pleased to partner on this safety initiative,” said Bob Crostarosa, senior vice president, TBC Retail Group. “The start of the new school year brings increased stop-and-go traffic on our roads. Braking ability is critical. If motorists want peace of mind they can stop in any Tire Kingdom, NTB or Merchants automotive repair facility for a free brake safety check.”
“For very obvious reasons, it's important to make sure your brake system is working correctly and that all system components still have plenty of service life to ensure trouble-free performance,” said MAP President Barry Soltz. “Many vehicles require service that the average person wouldn't be able to detect from daily driving, making it even more critical to perform periodic safety inspections. Plus, it's important to know what to look out for when it comes to brake components and other undercar parts that periodically wear out.”
MAP is offering tips for choosing and working with qualified repair providers, a list of participating MAP shops by area, a repair and replacement recommendations look-up for vehicle components and more at its website.
