PHOENIX (Aug. 16, 2010) — The Automotive Service Association, acting through the Arizona Green Business Automotive Program, has designated 11 Firestone Complete Auto Care locations in the state as “green shops.”
Six Firestone stores in the Phoenix area recently received their “green shop” certification, while five in the Tucson area were recertified, Bridgestone Retail Operations L.L.C. said in a press release.
The ASA works in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to administer the Green Business Automotive Program, Bridgestone said. The ASA classifies Arizona auto service providers as “green shops” if they go beyond required government environmental regulations in pollution prevention and resource conservation.
Auto repair shops must accumulate at least 300 points on an ADEQ scorecard in areas such as cleaning and degreasing, energy conservation and waste reduction to achieve “green shop” certification, Bridgestone said.
