Doran Manufacturing Inc. has launched the Doran 360CE tire pressure monitoring system designed for commercial equipment used for mining, construction and earthmoving applications.
The product, which the company said is ideal for all sizes and configurations of commercial equipment, features large-bore sensors that are built with high-impact nylon and include potting material to secure the internal components and provide protection against vibrations and high temperature. The sensors also can be activated to transmit tire pressure and temperature data using the Doran SmartLink tool during inspections.
The system features an in-cab display that provides real-time monitoring of tire pressures for up to 36 wheel positions. A patent-pending Green Means GOOD indicator light shows that tires are at the correct pressures and the system is working properly.
In addition to standard level 1 and level 2 alarms at 12.5 and 25 percent below the programmed baseline tire pressure respectively, Doran said the 360CE features a FastLeak warning triggered by a drop in tire pressure of 2.8 psi in less than 12 seconds. It also includes a high temperature alarm that activates if a sensor's temperature reaches 248 degrees.
The system's digital LCD display and sensors can be programmed and installed in less than an hour, without the use of any special tools, the company said.

Ken-Tool is offering its Valve Breaker tire tool, designed to remove valve stems from demounted wheels.
The patent-pending product uses a slide ram designmade from solid round steel bar stockto drive a heat-treated punch into the valve stem seat to pop the valve stem out of a rim. This allows service technicians to remove a valve stem with a wheel on the floor.
The tool features a rubber safety-grip drive handle and vibration absorbing rubber grip on the outer tube designed to protect the operator. Other safety features include a protective flange at the tube's top to help prevent pinching and an energy absorbing spring-loaded punch assembly to protect the wheel and reduce shock to the operator's hands, the company said.
The U.S.-made product is available in a 27-inch, 9-pound version (P/N 35934) and a 45-inch, 15.5-pound version (P/N 35936).

Tire Service Equipment Mfg. Co. Inc. has introduced its Cheetah Stud Extractor Kit, P/N 6300, to remove broken axle studs without harming the other studs or the axle hub.
The extraction kit allows technicians to drill a hole precisely in the center of a broken stud. This precise centering is the most critical factor in being able to remove a broken stud, the company said.
The Cheetah Stud Extractor Kit eliminates the need to replace entire axle hubs that have broken studs or the need to re-tap broken axle holes damaged by other removal methods, the company said. The patented extractor covers eight popular truck axle hubs.
